Southwest Regional Folk Alliance Official Showcase!

We just got back from showcasing at SWRFA – or the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance for those of you not up on the various folk alliance conference acronyms.

It’s basically three days of music, networking and workshops with folk DJs, promoters and musicians. We were selected for an official showcase (yay!) and I was blown away by the the artists we got to share a stage with.

After the official showcases there are un-official showcases and impromptu jams until 3:00 or 4:00 am.
You basically wonder around all night and continuously find yourself in tiny hotel rooms sitting in front of world class musicians and songwriters.
One room makes you cry, then next door there’s a rowdy bluegrass jam, and two doors down a humorous songwriter makes you laugh out loud.
It’s super inspiring to hear so much talent packed into one hotel.

What blows my mind is that you can see these artists in small venues around the US and Europe for, like, $20 and oftentimes for FREE! There is such a wealth of talent out there, people bravely creating art and sharing it with the world – and these conferences always re-affirm my life choices!

Here are some artists I discovered at SWRFA that I highly recommend you go see live:
Cosy Sheriden, Ordinary Elephant, Heather Pierson, Mare Wakefield and Nomad.

Pre-Order the New Album!

We’re super excited to announce that we’re partnering with PledgeMusic to release new music!

It’s been four years since our last album – and we’ve had these songs brewing inside us for a long time now. After months of searching for the perfect musicians, studio and engineer we are so ready to get this music out there!

Going into the studio adds a completely new dimension to a song. There are a whole new set of creative decisions to make at every step. Not just “what kind of drum feel do we want on the chorus?” but also “what kind of sound do we want on the snare drum during the chorus?” The possibilities are endless. The longer we can spend in the studio, the more we can explore these possibilities and allow the recording process to not just capture the song but also to enhance and transform it.

So we’ve partnered with PledgeMusic to reach our target and to share this process with you in a way we’ve never done before.
By joining this pre-order you can help us make our best album yet and get a behind the scenes look at our process!

Starting April 2018 we’re going to be releasing two new tracks a month for four months, along with videos and artwork and then compiling these songs into a new album.
Every Pledger will receive a digital download of these new songs as soon as they’re released – and will have access to exclusive, behind the scenes updates throughout the recording and release process.

We have 60 days to reach our target of 100%. Hitting this target will cover the basic recording of this new music – bass, guitars, vocals, drums and keyboard. Reaching our stretch goal of 200% will mean we can hire some more absolutely incredible musicians to add their talents to this record. But either way, it’s gonna be amazing!
Watch our video and pledge at PledgeMusic!

We can’t thank you enough for your support. We hope you’ll join us in this release and help us get the word out there.

Much love and appreciation,
Eleanor & Elie

Philadelphia Folk Festival & Tons-o-Shows!

This has been our busiest summer to date and I’m loving it!

We’ve been playing a ton and we’ve been back and forth to PA with the Philly Songwriter’s Project Winners, which has been great. Our fellow Philly winners, Adam Web & Nyke, Emily Drinker and Jason McGovern are super talented peeps and I’m so glad we got to know them.

This weekend we’ve got a string of shows starting in NJ at a gorgeous, historic landmark church called 1867 Sanctuary. Then we’re heading to Liberty Fest in Philly and on Sunday we’re playing at the 56th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival!!! This is the longest continuously running outdoor musical festival of its kind in North America and I can’t wait to experience it.

September will bring us up to Massachusetts for a string of shows and then back down to Austin, TX for an official showcase at the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance conference!

Philadelphia Songwriters Project Winners!

Honored to announce that we won this year’s Philadelphia Songwriter’s Project competition!
You can catch us on tour with the other winners at Firefly Fest where we will be sharing the stage with Bob Dylan and Muse (and by “stage” I mean 1 mile radius of the stage), Rose Tree and Bethlehem Musikfest (to name a few), can’t wait!
